Now that elections are over...

Just like any other Kenyan, I am fed up with elections and hope that things go back to normal. What are some of the things we all hope will be dealt with?

  1. The “After elections….” excuse. I am tired of talking to a girl with “Eeh, sweetie…. Si unipe number?” then she says “Ngoja tuone vile elections zitaenda kwanza...” NKT!!
  2. Teargas Mondays. I'm tired of wearing my suit with my running shoes as if my name is Kip-left. (This is a literal track suit). The constant readiness to run just in case has been stressful because I like looking like a rich person with my upcoming kitambi.
  3. Nurses strike... Nurses are still on strike and we can't fall sick. I can't even take serious risks because if I get injured now, imagine me going to India for treatment and explaining to the doctor “We were trying a new style of doing things in the gym. I put her on my shoulder... that’s how my back broke”. Aki nurses need to get back.
  4. University students. My favorite bar has been taken over by University students who aren’t back in school yet. How do you know that they are University students? They all do a group dance that is initiated by a “Twende Brayo….” Whenever our National anthem by the name of ‘Bablas’ comes on. My local used to e such a cool and quiet place. Aki hawa watoto warudi shule.
  5. We can start planning for the end year work party. The most important things at work are office tea and the end year work party. In fact, that’s the reason I work… so that I can have a chance to attend an end year work party
  6. News. News used to be interesting with stories of people who stole chickens, couples kukwamana and politicians fighting in parliament. These elections have robbed us of much needed entertainment and I hate it. Can things go back to normal so that I have my entertainment? Sina pesa ya Netflix
  7. I'm going broke. These extra weekends or public holidays are making me go broke. My past time habits are expensive. KC Coconut, Mayai pasua and chips sonford aren’t cheap. I'm so glad things will be back soon.
