The sudden demise of another rugby player in a span of four weeks has left the local rugby fraternity in shock.

Reports indicate that Andrew Wekesa – a former Kenyan international and an alumni of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) was killed by thugs on Sunday.

The 25-year-old who was a forward at Homeboyz RFC was reportedly stabbed on the way to his Mlolongo home.

Police are said to be investigating his death even as the rugby fraternity struggles to come to terms with many deaths that have rocked the sport in recent weeks.

Wekesa’s passing comes barely four weeks after Mwamba RFC scrum-half Victor Wayodi lost his life after collapsing during a game after developing breathing difficulties.
