Citizen TV's Jaque Maribe
With her father at Kilimani police station

Jacque Maribe’s family has been very supportive of her during these tough, trying moments. Her father has been at the forefront of protecting his daughter.

Jacque’s father Mr Mwangi says his daughter is guilty of love and not murder and that police are prosecuting her because she’s a celebrity.

Police want to become famous by nailing a celebrity. That is why my daughter is in custody. Her neighbour, Brian Kassaine, also has a partner. Why is she not in custody? Her biggest mistake was falling in love.

In an interview with Daily Nation, Maribe’s father said that his daughter’s life would be in danger if she testified against those arrested in connection with the murder of Monica Kimani.

The day after Monica’s murder my daughter read the same piece of news on Citizen TV. How callous can she be to participate in a murder and have the courage to read the news? That is not the girl we raised.

The TV girl is still in custody until she will be arraigned in court on later this week. Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti said that Maribe might be charged with an offence related to the murder. Jacque’s family said that they feared for her life if she decides to testify against her fiance Jowie.

He may not have committed the crime alone. The man has deep connections with shadowy people. His accomplices may be out there and may go after my daughter if she testifies against him. She could live in fear for the rest of her life.
