Norah Jelagat, an undergraduate student at Stanford University, USA was found dead at her campus residence on June 14 under unclear circumstances.
It is still a mystery on why the best girl in Nairobi County in the 2013 KCSE exams took her own life.
Norah who was a student at Precious Blood Secondary School, Riruta, was the fourth-best student in Kenya in 2013.
She joined the California-based Stanford University in 2014 where she pursued Computer Science Engineering and according to the institution, she was passionate about artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Norah was on July 3rd laid to rest at her father’s home in Elgeyo Marakwet.
The deceased’s father, Dr Peter Borus told Nation that the university and other US authorities are conducting investigations.
Asking the public to let them mourn in peace.
“WE ARE DISTRAUGHT AS FAMILY AND WITH HEAVY HEARTS, WE ASK FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND SEEK YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND INDULGENCE TO ALLOW US MOURN PRIVATELY.
WE ARE SO FAR WORKING WELL WITH STANFORD UNIVERSITY AND RELEVANT AUTHORITIES TO CONCLUDE THE MATTER.”
