It's always a dream of every married couple to have a child of their own.

In most traditional African societies, a child is very important and it strengthens a union but to some couples, this is a nightmare. Some end up childless even after staying together for several years.

In some cases, it's due to psychological problems, medical complications, biological matters, and even God's will as many believe that kids are God given.

Well, a Kenyan couple Editah Hadassah Trip and her hubby Ken Trip Okoye are among the unlucky couples who are yet to have babies even after 10 years of marriage.

The two lovebirds met back in 2001 at a local church and they fell for each other. By then Editah was in high school her final year while Trip was undertaking his bachelor's degree.

The two first met in church in 2001 when Editah was in form four, while Ken was in university.

"I heard him sing in church and liked his voice. I loved to sing too. Later we talked briefly and parted ways," Editah told Eve Woman Magazine.

They later met up three years later and their friendship developed as the years passed on and they eventually got married.

"We only met again three years later. We were in the same singing group and we quickly became good friends. Our friendship developed into a romantic relationship a year later. Because we had such a great friendship, it was easy to transition into a relationship. We got to know each other without the pressure of a relationship first two years later, we got married," narrated Ken.

They are living happily as a couple but they have not been able to get a child 10 years after they tied the knot. The 33-year-old career woman and her 38-year-old partner thought that children would come naturally after their wedding though she was scared after her elder sister died during childbirth.

'I had lost my older sister during childbirth in 2014, just before I got married. I think that made me a little scared of childbirth. She was just 3o years old at the time -pretty young. She was a pillar in our family; she even helped with my school fees. Her death was a huge blow to the family.

Also, my other sister had a few complications in childbirth nothing much but enough to make me want to shelf having kids for a while. However, I assumed that Ken and I would have two children after a few years, a boy and a girl," she said during the interview.

Ken and Editah on several occasions were convinced that she was pregnant but their hopes were crushed. Every time she used pregnancy tests kits the results were negative. They decided to seek medical assistance and after several tests, they were found to be okay. They didn't have any problem.

"After three to four years, we realized that there was probably something wrong. We went for tests -at first, the tests were focused on Editah but later I was also tested. All tests showed that everything was OK with both of us," narrated THE SOFT-SPOKEN Ken.

According to the couple, Editah always had severe cramps during her menstrual period and she could no longer take the pain. She decided to go back to the hospital for a check up and the doctors discovered that she had ovarian cysts which was treated and she was okay.

The severe pains during her menses did not stop and she had no chance but seek further medical attention and that's when she was diagnosed with endometriosis; a condition resulting from the appearance of endometrial tissue outside the uterus and causing pelvic pain.

Editah then underwent surgery. The power couple is still convinced that one day, God will answer their prayers and they will be parents.
