2017 has been a dark year for the Kenyan rugby fraternity. They've lost three players namely; Jimmy Kilonzo, Andrew Wekesa and Mike Okombe, all victims of murderers.

On Saturday night, Topfry Nakuru RFC player (Wanyore) Mike Okombe aka Chomoka was stabbed to death by his 37-year-old wife MaryAnne Wamboi Mumbi following a disagreement. The two were attending a friend's birthday party at Olive Inn in Nakuru when Wamboi took a knife and stabbed Okombe on the left side of his chest. He was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing on of one of our own, Mike Okombe today. 

Kindly keep the family and the entire Nakuru rugby fraternity in your prayers during these trying times," read a statement on nakuru RFC's official Facebook Page.

Mike Okombe's death is a major blow not only to his home club but also to the Kenya 15's national team. He was a key player in both teams and always played his heart out.
