A 25-year-old university student Sharon Otieno, who was abducted with Nation Media journalist Barrack Oduor on Monday night was found dead yesterday.
Sharon , who was a second-year student at Rongo University, Migori county pursuing a degree in Medical Records and Information was seven months pregnant.
Her body was found in Koreda forest in Kasipul constituency on Tuesday evening. Sharon hails from Kanyada in Homa Bay Town constituency.
Homa Bay police commander Marius Tum said a resident from the area reported to police officers at Oyugis station before they went and confirmed. Tum said;
Police officers were directed by a resident to the forest and they found a mutilated dead body of the lady.
Speaking to the Star on Wednesday morning, Tum said they took the body to Rachuonyo level IV hospital mortuary for postmortem. The police boss confirmed they had already arrested Michael Oyamo,
suspect linked to the abduction incident. Oyamo is among the people who were mentioned by Oduor that he telephoned them for a meeting in Rongo town.
Oduor who on Tuesday recorded statement at Nyanza regional CID headquarters in Kisumu for more than six hours said Oyamo colluded with abductors. He said the abductors ransacked them and took their personal effects. Oduor said;
Oyamo alighted and allowed in two men who covered their faces where later I jumped out of the car after realizing they were going to harm us.
The journalist said he was following a story about a love triangle that involved the lady with Migori Governor Okoth Obado. He said Oyamo had telephoned them to come and discuss the issue that
Governor Obado had impregnated Sharon but allegedly abandoned her.
Oduor is still undergoing medication at Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu due to injuries he sustained after escaped death by jumping out of the car during the abduction.
