A court has ordered the temporary closure of Space Lounge and Grill along Ngong' Road, Nairobi, pending the determination of a noise pollution case. Magistrate Mary Murage revoked the popular club's permit pending the case on loud music.

Murage also prohibited servants, agents, employees, representatives, tenants and or any other person from playing music at the entertainment spot. She also ordered the proprietors of the popular 'water hole' to provide the Environment Assessment License issued, as a proof of compliance.

"The renewal of the business permit of the Plaintiff (Space Lounge) be revoked by the Defendant (Nairobi City Council) pending the hearing and determination of this suit," she said.

Murage also directed the Kilimani police station OCS to ensure the lounge complies. The club has been embroiled in a legal tussle with neighbours over playing loud music at night.
