Nairobi's normal traffic flow will be affected in different parts of the town this Sunday.

This is due to a planned bike racing.

In a notice, Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced that sections of key roads are set to be closed for activity.

They include

Lang'ata Road,

Uhuru Highway,

Haile Sellasie Avenue

Bunyala Road

Lower Hill Road

The closure, according to the agency, will happen between 6 am to 2 pm.

While regretting any inconveniences that might be caused, the agency has appealed to motorists to plan accordingly.

"We urge motorists to use alternative routes and follow guide by traffic police and marshals," the notice reads.

The race, dubbed 'Grand Nairobi Bike Race' is one of the major races on the East African calendar.

It brings together cyclists from Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Eritrea, France and US.

Now, in its third edition, the race will see at least 2,500 cyclists participate in it.

It will feature six categories of 60 km main race, 2 km kid's race, 48 km para-cycling race, 12 km family fun ride, 48 km black mamba ride and 60 km team race for teams consisting of six riders.

The race's main goal is to get as many people as possible out on the streets of the capital with their bikes.
