Gift Moi, grandson to the late former President Daniel Moi is back in the country after undergoing a successful cancer treatment in India.

He is the son of Moi's late son Jonathan Moi, who died from Pancreatic cancer in 2020.

Gift who is only 14  was discovered with a cyst on his upper right jaw and underwent his first surgery in 2021.

The cyst came back and in 2024 he needed surgery as the cysts had multiplied.

He needed 2.5 million to undergo the surgery.

Speaking at the airport, Gifts mum Faith Moi, the excited mother thanked Kenyans for coming through for her in her hour of need.

"We are back home from receiving treatment. We are delighted to be home my son Gift Moi and I have gone to India.

We were there for five months.

It's good to be home. We have been through a callous treatment.

He had a rare form of cancer and so the treatment was vigorous. "

She confirmed the tumor had completely been removed

"The tumor was removed fully together with the disease and whatever it had touched.

I want to thank God and all Kenyans who came through for us. I also thank Oscar Sudi for rallying his friends.

Were it not for him we would not be here."

Oscar Sudi also took to his socials to thank Kenyans for contributing towards Gift's treatment

Like any other parent would love to see their children in good health, I am elated to see Kalya Gift Moi return to the country after comprehensive cancer care in India after Kenyans joined hands to ensure he gets treatment. Kichango ni kuchangizana.

5 months ago, MP Oscar Sudi brought his friends together to fundraise for Gift.

Close to Sh7 Million was raised in less than 15 minutes.

Speaking at the time, Faith shared how traumatizing it had been losing her husband to cancer and having her son fight the same monster.

"It has been a very traumatizing time for me as a mother knowing that I need to take him for treatment but I cannot do so financially. As a mother, I cannot sit like that and let him go like that."

Healing is a process and even in the morning his dad is not done, knowing his dad passed away because of pancreatic cancer has been very heavy on me.

Am all he has. I want to thank you for responding to the call. God will do his part. Thank you for coming through for us. This will go down for long. He is going through therapy. He was trying to ask when we are going to India."
