K24 journalist shot during the Anti Finance bill demonstrations has alleged her life is in danger.

In footage reviewed by Mpasho, Kariuki, who was wearing a press jacket, is seen handing a police officer some Colgate to apply on her face.

Not long after that she was shot three times in the thigh while covering protests in Nakuru .

Speaking to KK24 Wanjeri says she fears for herself, the kids and her family.

"The threats have instilled fear in me as a woman. I stay alone and also fear for my family. For my safety, I had contemplated dropping the case because that is the only way they would cease following me. I am grateful for the entire Nakuru Association of Journalists who have cooperated with IPOA to follow up on the case and that is what has motivated me to hold on. If I drop it I will let them down because this case is known and has weight," she told K24.

Wanjeri says she has been receiveing calls to meet an unknown person who alleged to have information on the officer who shot her.

She has since reported the incident with the police.

Speaking to the media not long after the shooting, Wanjeri said she was targeted

"Nobody would convince me that I was not a target because it is not the first time I had been targeted. A teargas canister had hit me, but I did not report the matter, I did not escalate the matter," she said.

Wanjeri said she had shown her colleagues the scar, which is in the same leg she was shot.

She said she had left her home at around 1:30 pm to cover the protests, with expectations that she would do her work and return home safely.

"Little did I know that I would end up in a hospital with stitches on my thigh," she said.

Wanjeri was shot four times with three bullets lodged in her thigh.

The rubber bullets have since been removed and the doctors say she is out of the woods.
