Three people including a woman and an infant died when an Ugandan-bound bus headed to Tororo was involved in an accident at Kayole near Naivasha.

The bus was carrying mourners headed for a burial in the neighbouring country when the accident occurred.

Witnesses say the bus lost its breaks in the Kayole area of Naivasha and the driver tried to stop it by hitting other vehicles that were ahead.

The bus then swerved by the roadside and landed in a ditch in a sloppy section of the road.

A police report indicates that the occupancy stood at 63 at the time of the accident.

Several other passengers with various degrees of injuries including the driver of the bus are admitted to hospitals in the area.
