A sock found inside a handbag in the home of the Kware murder suspect has been identified as belonging to one of the victims.
The suspect, Collins Jumaisi, was arrested and is remanded for 30 days to allow the completion of the investigation. Forty-two women are alleged to have been dismembered by the 33-year-old.
A victim's family has confirmed that belongings linked to their kin were among those found in the suspect's home.
The victim, Roselyn Akoth Agongo, was 28 and had a side hustle cooking chips in Kware, Pipeline. Her family spoke to Citizen TV at City Mortuary, where they claimed she left home without one sock.
Families have been camping at the facility as the process of identifying the bodies continues after postmortems. DNA samples have also been taken.
Judith Akoth, the sister-in-law from Mumias, shared their search for Rose. She last saw her on June 28. "I knew she had gone to work because she had found a job. At about 3 pm, I saw her in Donholm, but I didn't talk to her."
Rose didn't return after that. Rose's brother called her phone after a few days; it was answered, but no one spoke. "There was just noise." They tried multiple times until it was finally unreachable.
When the family heard of bodies discovered in a quarry in Kware, they reported to the police and then proceeded to City Mortuary to find her.
They had doubts about one body and waited for more relatives to positively identify her. "We were then sent to DCI," Judith explained.
She shared what detectives told the family: "We were told a suspect had been arrested. A murder suspect. Items were found at his place. Among those items was a pink handbag that Rose had left home with."
Judith further claimed they lived together, so she was able to identify the missing belongings. "We were shown the items, and upon inspection, we found a sock that belonged to Rose inside the handbag. When I went home in the evening, we checked her clothes and found the other sock. So now one sock is with DCI."
Based on that evidence, they confirmed the sock belonged to their kin. "So it is her. Even the sock I have is to prove that we have found Rose."
