Former US President Donald Trump has spoken out after an alleged assasination on his life.

The incident unfolded as the Republican presidential candidate began addressing supporters as they prepared for the November 2024 elections.

Gunshots rang out while Trump discussed President Joe Biden's administration, causing panic among attendees.

Secret Service officers swiftly neutralized the suspect, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who had fired from an elevated position several hundred meters away outside the venue.

How did he realize he had been hurt?

"I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound and shots and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realised then what was happening," he said.

One spectator was killed at the rally and two others were critically injured. Authorities say the victims were adult males.

A witness told the BBC they saw a man with a rifle crawling on a nearby roof before shots rang out
