Nairobi County lists areas residents should vacate from

Nairobi County Government has identified flood-prone areas where residents are urged to evacuate for safety.

In Kasarani sub-county, residents of Gachieko, Gituamba, Athi (lower Athi), and Brookshine in Ruai have been instructed to vacate their homes.

Similarly, those residing in Budalangi in clay, Mwengenye in Njiru, Infinity in Kasarani, and Mwisho wa Lami in Mwiki are advised to evacuate.

In Mathare sub-county, residents of Mathare North Area 1, Area 2, Mathare North Primary, Utalii 4A, Babadogo Laundry, Kasabuni, Gumba Bridge, and Lucky Summer along Ruaka River are urged to leave.

Likewise, in Kibra sub-county, residents of Gatwekera, Sokomoko, Gatwekera kwa Mwangi, Gatwekera Shofco, Gatwekera Riverside, Maranatha Kwa Muganda, Kianda Riverside Holy Unity, and Soweto West Kwa Foot Bridge in Sarangombe ward must vacate the areas.

In Makina, residents of Vuma Estate are instructed to vacate.

Notable affected areas in Kibra include Raila informal settlement with over 200 people living along the Ngong River, Canaan estate in Highrise, and the Undugu area in Highrise.

In Makadara, Cereal Board Village, Gakuyo area near Ngong River, Jamaica, and Paradise areas are impacted.

Similarly, all areas in Viwandani sub-county along Ngong River, as well as Magunga Court and Buruburu Phase III, are facing flooding.

In Roysambu sub-county, Zimmerman ward, Sidian, and Njathaini areas are affected, while in Kahawa ward, Kongo, Budalangi, Bosnia, and Giagishiri areas are identified as hot spots. Rurie area in Githurai ward is also marked as a hot spot.

In Kamukunji sub-county, Kiambiu estate, Vihiga, Kasovo, Mabatini, Sewage, Magunda, Motherland, and Mlolongo in Eastleigh South ward are designated hot spots.

Moreover, Kanuku and Kinyago in California Ward are marked as hot spots, while traders along the river in Gikomba within Pumwani Ward are cautioned as high-risk areas.

In Embakasi North, Two rivers in Dandora area 3, Block G in Dandora area 3, Gitare Marigu in Dandora area, and Kanduma in Dandora area 1 are identified.

Westlands sub-county sees households along Waititi River in Kangemi ward/Mountainview ward as cautioned areas, while households along Kibagare Dam in Githogoro near Astrol and Kitusuru Ward in Karura Ward are also warned.

In Embakasi South, Mkuru kwa Reuben, Feed the Children zone, Riverside zone, Gatoto zone, Kariobangi zone, and Cosovo zone are affected, with over five schools in the area also impacted.

Furthermore, Huruma, Umoja 3 at Moulem, Choka, Utawala at Mihango, and Eastern Bypass next to Gravity Park are designated as hot spots.
