An investigation has uncovered shocking details that German-American billionaire Karl-Erivan Haub, who was believed to have died in 2018 after going missing while skiing in Switzerland, is allegedly living with a Russian woman in Moscow.
Haub, who was 58 at the time of his alleged death, was skiing on the Matterhorn mountain in Switzerland when he disappeared in April 2018. He was last seen walking alone one morning and did not return to his hotel.
Authorities, including rescue teams and five helicopters, searched for six days, but he was not found, nor was his body.
After three years, in 2021, he was officially declared dead by a German court. He was said to have left behind his wife, two children, and his company, the major retailer Tengelmann Group, which employed over 75,000 people.
His younger brother, Christian, swore in court that there was no sign that Karl-Erivan, whose net worth was estimated at £5.2 billion, was alive.
But now, a major investigation led by German broadcaster RTL claims that Karl-Erivan was found in Moscow - and is believed to be living there with a woman named Veronika Ermilova.
Haub, who would now be 64, is said to have called Veronika 13 times within three days before his disappearance in 2018.
These calls were lengthy - one lasting over an hour - leading to suspicions that he was planning to fake his death. The investigation found that Veronika, 44, ran an events agency.
RTL journalist Liv von Boetticher speculated that Haub's disappearance in Switzerland may have been linked to illegal activities.
The exact method used by Karl-Erivan to execute his disappearance claim remains unknown.
Some believe that the German billionaire descended from the Alps and made his way to Italy, but there is no information about his whereabouts after starting his solo skiing trip.
