Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura has urged Kenyans to remain calm after a chopper crashed in Kaben, Marakwet East.
Senior military officials are among eight officers who are feared dead.
Also on board were other beuratic officers at the Ministry of Defence.
Mwaura has said that an official statement will be issued soon.
"Dear fellow Kenyans. An official communication concerning the Military Aircraft Crush shall be issued soon. Let’s stay calm and avoid any speculation whatsoever at this critical juncture," he said on his X official account.
The Kenya Air Force Huey Helicopter had taken off from a local primary school when it went down and burst into flames.
Department of Defense headquarters also said a statement would be issued on the same.
The chopper is said to have been carrying 12 people including officers of the rank of General when it went down.
Witnesses said it burst into flames on crashing.
There was only one survivor believed to be a photographer, other officers said.
The officers were surveying the area ahead of the planned deployment of more troops there to battle cattle rustlers.
