A night shift worker lost their life in a fire incident at an iron sheet manufacturing plant in Isinya, Kajiado County.
Police have reported that four other workers are currently receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the blaze.
The fire erupted on Wednesday night while employees were actively engaged in their duties, according to police and eyewitnesses.
A source at the factory told police that the incident happened at the furnace used to melt scrap metals.
"It burst and caused fire as the workers attended to it affecting five of them. One died in hospital while four are nursing wounds."
One of the victims is in serious condition, police said.
The body of the deceased employee is in a local mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.
Police say an investigation is ongoing. The team investigating the incident visited the scene on Thursday.
They aim to understand if there were safety measures for the workers while they were on duty.
The management said they would not comment as the matter is still under probe.
Fire at a fast food restaurant
A fire broke out at a fast food joint along Langata Road, Nairobi and destroyed property.
The management of the joint said two fridges, three cookers, three fries, five shelves, two grills and assorted utensils were destroyed.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
Fire at Bazaar Plaza
Police are investigating the cause of a fire incident that burnt property at Bazaar Plaza along Moi Avenue, Nairobi.
The fire broke out on the 11th floor of the said building.
Nairobi County fire brigade managed to put off the inferno.
Properties of unknown value were destroyed and the cause of the fire is not yet known, police said.
