Governor Johnson Sakaja's administration has suspended three inspectorate bosses over the inhumane treatment of traders, motorists and business owners.
In a statement on Wednesday, acting County Secretary and Head of County Public Service Patrick Analo said the people of Nairobi must be treated in a humane manner and with dignity.
"Following a series of events and investigations into recent incidences in various parts of the city involving traders, motorists and business owners, it has been decided that the following officers be suspended," he said.
Tony Kimani, Security and Compliance Chief Officer; Benjamin Omondi, Director of City Inspectorate and Carol Njuguna, Assistant Director of Operations.
Analo said Eva Wairiuko will hold the position of Security and Compliance Chief Officer in an acting capacity while William Kangogo will act as Director of the City Inspectorate.
"These changes take effect immediately," he said.
The changes were triggered by the demolition of stalls and kiosks early Wednesday by city askaris at the bus station in the CBD.
The officers descended on the structures with wanton abandon, flattening everything in sight with hammers and metal bars as furious hapless traders watched from the sidelines.
