US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman has broken her silence after receiving backlash from a section of Kenyans over a photo she took in Mombasa on Tuesday.

The Ambassador had taken a photo in front of the iconic Mombasa tusks while announcing her arrival at the Coastal city on working tour.

"Nipo site County 001. Had to make a stop on my working tour to see the iconic elephant tusks in Mombasa," she said on her X handle.

But a section of Kenyans who reacted to the message pointed out that the envoy whilst posing for the photo inconvenienced motorists by stalling traffic flow to capture the special moment.

Some also criticised the quality of the photo which appeared to have been taken with too much lighting under a sunny sky.

On Wednesday, the Ambassador acknowledged the concerns raised by Kenyans and admitted that the photo was not the best.

She invited Kenyans to share their best photos taken at the same spot as hers.

"OK, I hear you. My original photo wasn't the greatest. Show me your best photos from Mombasa's iconic tusks," she said.

In their comments on Monday, some Kenyans said the envoy's photo appeared blurry.

Some like @KelvinKangethe said, "Kwani ulitumia pinhole camera….DM for good camera prices."

"Looks like a photo from 1988," added @MihrThakar

"This photo looks like it was taken in 1984. Aren't there better camera's," @ShiangalaMike said.
