• The young mechanic is now back in his home country - Ghana - and is telling his story as a way to warn people about this travel scam.
A car mechanic from Ghana has taken to social media to express his displeasure with the agent who defrauded him of a large amount of money with the promise of taking him to Canada to live there.
The technician explained that he saw the agent transporting people to foreign countries for work advertising these services on Facebook.
Later he contacted him and they agreed on the amount of money he would need to have to afford all the necessities until he landed in Canada.
The mechanic scraped together every penny selling his two cars to get the amount the agent gave him - more than US$3000 [Sh 457,800].
At the end of the day, the agent just let him cross the border into the neighboring country of Ivory Coast, while the mechanic dreamed of going to Canada and maybe changing his life.
When he arrived in Ivory Coast, he got the shock of his life when he discovered that the man had cheated him.
"When I arrived there [Ivory Coast], my friend who claimed to be in Canada visited me after going to the interview in Ivory Coast, he admitted that there was a business opportunity in the country and wanted me to join it, I was very sad and told my friend that his deception had affected me badly."
