The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has continued to inform Kenyans about the power outage that hit the nation on Saturday night.

In the last statement issued at around 12 a.m. on Sunday night, KPLC noted that electricity had been restored in many parts of the country.

The company also said that they were working to restore electricity in areas that had not yet received it at the time of reporting.

"We have restored power supply in many parts of the country with many parts of the Central Rift, South Nyanza and Nairobi also restored," KPLC said in a statement.

They added, "We have started to restore electricity to the Coast region and other remaining areas. The final information will be given at the appropriate time."

Earlier, around 10 p.m. on Sunday night, KPLC had stated that electricity had been restored in several parts of the country, including parts of Mount Kenya, the Western Region, and the North of the Rift Valley.

"The restoration of steam to the rest of the country is progressing well," they said.

The company, at that time, had asked their customers to be patient while they worked to solve the problem. On Saturday night, for around two hours, the nation witnessed a power outage in many areas.

KPLC acknowledged the power outage and reported that their engineers were working to restore normalcy. "We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience caused.  Information on restoration progress and the cause of the power outage will be released later,” KPLC said.

Kenyans had taken to social media to express their disappointment with the power company after the outage on Saturday night.
