A family is calling on the government to help them find their kin who went missing after serving a peace mission in Kapedo five months ago.

Anne Njoroge, the wife,  told the media that her husband, Joseph Wanjeri, who is a police officer went missing in the line of duty.

She said all other officers who went for the peacekeeping mission in Kapedo returned safely to their families, except her husband.

"To date, he has never been found. I have been searching for him. I have even gone to the station but they keep telling me they are looking for him. The first month ended, then the second, the third till now it is five months," a frustrated wife told journalists.

"If they don't help me, where else will I take my complaint yet they were with him when he was on duty. It is not like he was out handling his affairs."

Wanjeri's family now want the Turkana County government to explain his disappearance.

His wife said Wanjeri served as an officer at Lodwar police station before he was sent for the peacekeeping mission in Kapedo.

Further, it is alleged there was a report submitted to his seniors in Kapedo to take him to the hospital as he was unwell but it was allegedly ignored.

Turkana County Police Commander Daniel Kinywa told Citizen TV that the designated procedure to find out where Wanjeri is could take up to seven years.

Activists in Turkana also called on the government to help find out where Wanjeri is.
