Following a nightlong incident, the five students who perished at a man-made dam in Eldoret have been recognised.

Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) students of Eldoret's Arap Moi Primary School were the casualties.

The parents identified the remains on Saturday night at the mortuary of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, according to the police.

As part of their investigation into the tragedy, the police indicated that a post-mortem procedure will be performed on the bodies.

Several witnesses have recorded testimony, including the school's teachers and supervisors at the dam where the tragedy occurred.

The children's parents are still in search of information on the event.

According to authorities, the incident occurred when the students entered the well-liked Amazement Park, which provides a variety of activities, including prayer, in advance of the national examinations that begin on Monday.

That boat journey on a man-made dam in the park ended in a capsize for the students and their professors.

Witnesses and police reported that the students were split up into groups, with some of them stepping out into the boat ride on the dam.

Authorities reported that only one person, a sixth-grader, who was on the boat, survived.

After being taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, the student was taken to Burnt Forest Sub County Hospital.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Saturday at 5 p.m.

After being transferred to Burnt Forest Hospital, the victims' deaths were officially declared.

The MTRH mortuary received the deceased.

Parents of the students, furious that their kin was missing, swarmed the school demanding answers.

This increased tension in the community, prompting the sub-county security committee to call an urgent meeting to discuss how to resolve the situation.

The dates of the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations (KCPE) are October 30 to November 24.

There are about 1.4 million candidates for the KCPE, 1.2 million for the KAPSEA, and 903,260 for the KCSE exams.

As part of their exam preparation, the students had visited the park.
