Kenya Power has announced areas that will experience a power shutdown on Friday within Nairobi.
The power company announced that the interruptions are scheduled to begin at 9:00 am and continue until 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include Githurai 45, Co-op Bank, Naivas, Kingdom Sacco, Mt. Kenya, Kimbo, Mwana Mukia, Clanne Academy and Kassmatt.
Others are Foundation Junior, KWA DO, Mukinye, Army Barracks, Sukari B, Mwiki School, Kimbo Police, part of Mwihoko, Farmers Choice, part of Clay City, and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power on Tuesday announced the commencement of a Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to clear the electricity meter connection backlog.
Kenya Power CEO Joseph Siror said the initiative already started.
"Through the RRI that commenced this week, the company has installed 10,759 meters for new connections," he said.
Siror said that the RRI will see pending connections cleared within 90 days.
During this period, the company aims to connect over 320,000 customers.
The Kenya Power CEO added that currently, total pending new connections stand at 236,924.
