Machakos man dies on day he was renewing marriage vows

• The ceremony was supposed to be a renewal of vows as well as a confirmation of the church.

A woman who was expected to renew her marriage vows on Saturday was left a widow after her husband collapsed in the bathroom while he was taking a shower to prepare for his special day.

Mary Musyoki was to renew her wedding vows with her husband, Michael at Kamanzi Catholic Church in Machakos County.

Michael was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Mary speaking to the media on Saturday said that;

"He collapsed while taking a shower to get ready, we took him to the hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival."

His body was taken to Kivaani mortuary and the family returned home to prepare to go to church despite the tragedy.

The ceremony was supposed to be a renewal of vows as well as a confirmation of the church. The mass was led by Fr Jones Muinde. The family then went to a reception at the nearby Kamanzi Primary School.
