After an outstanding performance in August, Kenyan attacker Josephat Lopaga, who plays for Dynamo Brest in the Belarusian Premier League, is one of six players up for the Player of the Month Award.

Others include Dennis Kovalevich, right winger Mikhail Gordeychuk, goalie Mikhail Kozakevich, defensive midfielder Sergey Kislyak, and left winger Nikita Burak.

Former street child Lopaga overcame adversity while managing a hard childhood and dreams of someday succeeding in life.

Due to prevalent livestock rustling, the 21-year-old fled his home in Baragoi and resided on the streets of Nakuru.

After being taught the sport by Alex Mwangi, a former AFC Leopards custodian trainer, at City Stadium Homeless Youth Rehabilitation Centre, he received his major break in the sport.

In his early years, Lopaga advanced through the Gor Mahia Youth team's divisions and also sported the jerseys of Posta Rangers and AFC Leopards.

The sharp-eyed forward joined Oman-based Dhofar in January 2023. After impressing during the trials, he secured a lifetime opportunity seven months later and signed an 18-month contract with Dynamo Brest.

He wears the team's number eight jersey and has made four starts, scoring twice.

The Belarusian club won the Belarusian Cup in 2007, 2017, and 2018 in addition to winning their first league championship in 2019.
