'Mathee wa Ngara', a businesswoman, claims she is being used as a scapegoat in a drug ring investigation.

According to Nancy Kigunzu, criminal investigators have intensified their efforts to get her wrongfully detained and charged on fabricated accusations.

Kigunzu states in records submitted to the Milimani Law Courts that she is a law-abiding citizen and doesn't know why the police are looking for her.

"I have never committed any crime in Kenya nor have I been involved in any criminal activity in Kenya neither personally not jointly with others and I therefore do not understand why the police are looking to arrest me," she says in her court papers.

Kigunzu has requested that the court issue orders stopping her arrest and charge before the court without the agencies completing an investigation and enabling her to be heard. She has done this through attorney Shanice Maingi.

An order for anticipatory bail is also requested.

She has also claimed that the Inspector General and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations exploited their positions to unlawfully imprison her two sons for five days without cause.

They are both minors, 16 and 17 years old, respectively.

Kigunzu thinks her son's detention was made to intimidate her and then arrest her without following the proper procedures.

Kigunzu claims in court documents that she learned about the arrests in Ngara through the media.

"A few days later it was reported in the media that one of those arrests was of a wrong person, code-named Mathe wa Ngara," she says.

She said that while being detained at Pangani Police Station, her sons were among those who were arrested.
