NTV health Journalist Elizabeth Merab is dead.
Merab has for years been battling Sickle Cell a condition she was diagnosed with at age 10.
She passed away at The Aghakan Hospital, Nairobi aged 31 on Saturday 15, July 2023.
Merba was first admitted on Tuesday , at the time she was in a lot of pain.
According to her kin, she was immediately put in HDU.
The first born in a family of five is the second person on her family to die from Sickle Cell.
Her sister had earlier passed away from the same ailment.
According to Nation In 2019, Merab was discovered to have developed a condition known as Vascular Necrosis.
This came about after it was discovered she had no Spleen. This led to her leg being amputated.
According to NHS The spleen is a fist-sized organ found in the upper left side of your abdomen, next to your stomach and behind your left ribs.
The roles of the spleen include
- Filtering blood by removing cellular waste and getting rid of old or damaged blood cells.
- Making white blood cells and antibodies that help you fight infection.
- Maintaining the levels of fluid in your body.
- Producing antibodies that protect you against infection.
