On Wednesday, protesters pulled down the Expressway barrier near Mlolongo.

They were seen pulling the barrier by force to remove it.

As some of them were pulling the barrier, others were jumping and shouting.

In a statement, Moja Expressway said a section of the Nairobi Expressway toll services have been temporarily halted at Mlolongo, Syokimau and SGR Toll Stations due to the ongoing demonstrations.

The company said that efforts were underway to restore normalcy to the road.

"For your safety, we urge all motorists plying the Westlands-Mlolongo route to exit from JKIA and Mlolongo-Westlands bound motorists may safely join the road from JKIA Toll Station," the statement read.

Demonstrations have been witnessed across the country with protesters being teargassed in Mombasa.

The protesters came out to demonstrate in adherence to Azimio leader Raila Odinga's call for demonstrations.
