Teargas, running battles with police and angry crowds marked Maandamano Monday, March 27. The anger was also felt online where KOT weighed in with different views on the matter.

Activist Boniface Mwangi was among those who tweeted about those responsible for causing chaos in Kibra.

He laid blame on a local community in Kibra, claiming they were working with police to stop area residents from exercising their democratic right to protest.

He alleged they were being armed with machetes to help police stop demonstrations.

Videos of individuals were also shared but their identities could not be authenticated. His thoughts did not sit well with Kenyans and he has responded that his comments were irresponsible.

Boniface has deleted his tweet and apologized. Among those who questioned his claims was his friend former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga.

Mutunga told Mwangi that it could be other rogue people not necessarily that community, something the social activist seemed to have heeded. He issued an apology to that effect writing

"I wish to unreservedly apologize to the Nubian community for my tweet yesterday. My intention wasn't to profile or cause anyone harm. My words have, sadly, been misconstrued. I have deleted the offending tweet. Ramadhan Kareem."

When Maandamano Monday was ongoing and clashes reported Boniface had also made other remarks pointing fingers at authorities

"Have the police opened investigations on the torching of religious buildings in Kibra last night? I know some of you want to blame my tweet for that mess. That’s very simplistic. Tagging the police here so you can forward the evidence you have."
