Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has said that the government would want to have a discussion with both Raila Odinga and former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

Gachagua said that Uhuru should be involved in the discussion to answer various issues of the country.

Among the issues he wants to be discussed include the alleged misappropriated funds during his tenure.

“If we will have a discussion with Raila, it’s okay. We would also want to have a discussion with Raila and Uhuru Kenyatta together,” said Gachagua.

“Both of them to tell us the Sh 15 billion that Uhuru said to be paid under 26 minutes when it will be returned.”

He added that they will not and will never accept discussions of having a handshake.

“But this issue of saying that they want half of the government, that is not possible, it cannot happen, it will not happen.”

Gachagua made the remarks on Thursday in Kamahuha constituency in Muranga County.

He had attended the funeral of Mama Diana Wanjiku Njuya, the mother of Mary Wamaua, who is the MP of Kamahuha constituency.

Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o had revealed that she approved withdrawals of cash amounting to more than Sh15 billion under duress.

Appearing before the National Assembly Public Petitions Committee two weeks ago, Nyakang'o said she noticed various irregularities but had to approve because of the pressure.

The withdrawals were made under the roads annuity programme amounting to about Sh9 billion and Sh6 billion for payment for telecom.

She said that she questioned why the minutes of the committee that was supposed to approve roads for construction were not attached.
