President William Ruto has insisted that anyone who will attempt to disrupt business will be dealt with accordingly.
Speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday, Ruto said that no one was above the law when it comes to the destruction of properties.
In what appeared to be a hit at Opposition Chief Raila Odinga, the President emphasized that there was no reason whatsoever for anyone to stand in the way of free enterprise, disrupt business or sabotage economic activity for personal interest.
"Such impunity must be dealt with firmly and full accountability enforced to vindicate Kenya’s commitments as a free market economy," Ruto added.
Chaos and looting rocked protests led by the Raila lead Azimio La Umoja Coalition attempted march to State House on Monday.
Business activities, especially within the Central Business District, were disrupted as public service vehicles stayed off the road. Many offices remained closed as police fired tear gas at protesters.
Ugly scenes were witnessed in Nairobi, Kisumu and Migori counties where businesses were brought to a standstill and deserted for most of the day.
The Monday protests over the high cost of living left 20 officers injured, police authorities have said.
More than 10 police vehicles especially in Nairobi were damaged in the clashes that took place in various places.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has revealed that the county lost about Sh40 million due to the Azimio protests that occurred on Monday.
