• DCI said that the suspect is in custody and will appear before the Garissa Chief Magistrate's Court on April 10, 2023.

A man who is suspected of killing Khadija Hussein has been arrested and taken into custody.

Hussein, 37, met her death on December 25 2022 in Garissa town after she was attacked with a sword.

In a statement on Sunday, the Director of Criminal Investigations said the suspect, 20, was part of a group of three men who masterminded the murder of Hussein.

"Hussein who was attacked using a sharp object believed to be a Somali sword that went through her upper abdomen was pronounced dead at Medina Diagnostic Hospital while undergoing treatment," DCI said.

DCI said that the suspect is in custody and will appear before Garissa Chief Magistrate's Court on April 10, 2023.

Police appealed to the public to present any information that will lead to the arrest of the rest of the suspects.
