WRC Safari Rally Kenya cuts ties with driver Maxine Wahome

WRC Safari Rally Kenya has cut ties with driver Maxine Wahome.

The rally driver is set to face murder charges; the youngster will no longer be part of the Young Rally Stars program.

She is being charged with the death of her boyfriend and fellow Rally Driver Asad Khan.

The rally driver died at Avenue Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment.

At the time of his death has been admitted in hospital for almost a week. 

He had been admitted there after losing lots of blood following injuries he suffered in his Kileleshwa house in an altercation with his girlfriend Maxine Wahome. 

Asad was fighting for his life at the High Dependency Unit at the Avenue Hospital in Nairobi following the domestic spat which led to the arrest of Maxine.

According to Adil, his brother was injured by Maxine after she allegedly returned home drunk from a dinner party she had attended.

Maxine told police Khan was injured in an altercation with her after she came home late in the morning.

She added he broke a window pane that injured him in the ankle as she hid in a balcony

In June 2022 Wahome managed to win the WRC’s third tier class by 25 minutes and 27s, and finished the event 16th overall, one place behind M-Sport Rally1 driver Gus Greensmith.

Wahome’s victory was made even more impressive given the event was her first outing in the M-Sport-built Ford Fiesta Rally3 car, having previously piloted a Subaru Impreza N12 in the African Rally Championship.
