'People are celebrating that am jobless' Pauline Njoroge reacts to Gov't revoking her appointment

Kenyan blogger and government criticizer Pauline Njoirge has reacted to new of her provocation by CS Peninah Malonza.

Pauline had been nominated to the be a member of the Tourism Regulatory Authority team.

Taking to her socials, Pauline called out people celebrating her fall.

"The most hilarious thing today is seeing some people from certain quarters celebrating that I have been fired by the UDA government and that I am now jobless. Nie ma!"

Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza has revoked the appointment of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s son Kevin Muasya and blogger Pauline Njoroge as members of the Tourism Board.

Muasya, Ms Njoroge, Momoi and Njangu were appointed by former Tourism CS Najib Balala in August 2020 on a three-year contract.

The statement by Malonza comes as President Ruto is making reshuffles in state offices.

Ms Njoroge is well known for being a sharp critic of the Kenya Kwanza government through her social media posts since the election of President William Ruto.

The CS made the announcement in a Gazette Notice dated March 9, 2023, dismissing the pair alongside three other members before the conclusion of their term in the Ministry.

The other members are former KTN Journalist Najma Ismail, Alais Lenana Momoi and Isaac Muchiri Njangu.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 8 (1) (g) of the Tourism Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretations and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage revokes the appointment of Kevin Muasya, Najma Ismail, Alais Lenana Momoi, Isaac Muchiri Njangu, Pauline N. Njoroge as members of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Regulatory Authority,” read the statement.

Two years ago Pauline Njoroge had her appointment revoked by then Tourism CS Najib Balala.

The ex- CS cited the nominee’s earlier comments regarding the Nairobi National Park.

“I am revoking Pauline Njoroge’s appointment as a board member because we have just seen what she had tweeted in the past that Nairobi National Park was useless,” Balala is quoted in a press release by the ministry.

“We don’t want to be associated with such people and such thinking,” the CS said citing the integrity of the Nairobi National Park and the government’s commitment to conserve it.

Further adding;

"The integrity of Nairobi National Park is very important and the government is committed to save Nairobi National Park and any other protected area which is the habitat for our national heritage," he added.

The CS appointed Standard Group journalist Najma Ismail to the board shortly after revoking Njoroge’s appointment.
