Police are looking for a group of thugs who attacked a lorry driver who was headed for Kampala, Uganda with tones of fertilizer and robbed him of 29 bags of the product in Molo area, Nakuru.
The driver told police he had reached in Nyanja area, Mau Summit area as he was headed for Kampala when his lorry got a puncture on Wednesday night.
And after he stopped to change the tyre, a group of thugs on motorbikes arrived and started to stone him.
They broke the padlock of the lorry and stole 29 bags of fertilizer.
The driver raised an alarm alerting police officers on patrol who responded and managed to recover three bags of the 50 kilogrames of fertilizer.
The lorry was later escorted to the local police station where the driver recorded his statement pending a search for the suspects behind the incident.
Such incidents are common on the international highway amid efforts to contain them.
Police say they have mounted patrols on the highway to contain robberies that fluctuate.
