Ruto’s ex-guard, two others have a case to answer over robbery with violence charges

Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate Derrick Kuto has found that three police officers attached to Recce Squad have a case to answer in the robbery with violence charges.

The three, Gideon Sumare , Kevin Omerikwa and Shallan Ouma  had been charged with violently robbing a businessman of Sh150,000  but they denied the charges.

Shallan Ouma was by the time of the incident attached to the office of the Deputy President that had been designated to the current president the court heard.

According to the They had been accused of robbing George Olang' using force and threats on September 8, 2020 along the Eastern By-pass in Embakasi, Nairobi County.

The trio had also accused of demanding money by menaces contrary to Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The complainant brother had also testified in court and narrated on how his brother was called and informed him on the robbery incident.

“My brother called me and urged me to send him Sh80,000 because he had been held ransom, I sent him the money and also advised him to report to the nearest police station the issue,” he told the court.

The matter had been reported at the Kiambu police station under OB number 27/17/6/2020. Olang' handed the officers a photo of the person they were looking for.

While testifying in court today during their defense they jointly denied the wrong doing and said that they never participated in the robbery .

For instance, the third accused person Shalla Oooro Ouma told the court that he was by the time the incident occurred attached to former Deputy President William Ruto’s office in Karen.

He told the court that he told the court he never knew why he was arraigned in court and he never knew the car that was used in the robbery incident.

The cops are currently out on a bond of Sh500,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000. Senior Principal Magistrate Derrick Kuto directed that the cops comes back in court on April 15 where a Judgement in the case will be delivered.
