Police in Kiambu are investigating an incident in which the body of a 23-year-old woman was found dead in a lodging in Githunguri, Kiambu County.
The body of Elizabeth Wangui Mbugua was on March 3 found at Mwangaza lodging within Githunguri township hours after another man had booked the room.
Police said the man who was with her was later arrested.
Attendants said they discovered the body and called the police who visited the scene and established she was lying naked on the bed covered with beddings.
The body had blood oozing from the mouth, whereby blood-stained pillowcases, sheets and innerwear were found at the scene.
It is not clear what caused her death. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy, which will determine the way forward in terms of the probe.
And police are investigating an incident in which a body of a man was found in a kneeling position in Woodley Estate, Nairobi.
Police said the body of John Edgar Obok, 58, was found beside a stool inside his house.
A team that visited the scene said they found some medication documents indicating that he was suffering from high blood pressure and stomach ailment and was undergoing treatment. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
Elsewhere, police are investigating the death of a three-month-old child in their house in Lunga Lunga slums, Nairobi.
The parents of Amos Gicheru said they went to check on him when they discovered he had died in his bed.
The child was sleeping when he was found dead on March 5, police said, adding an investigation had been launched.
The remains were moved to the mortuary.
In Mathare slums, a body of a man was found on the roadside.
The body had a stab wound in the left thigh. The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
