• Agitated by the move, the girl removed a kitchen knife she was hiding in her undergarments and stabbed the boyfriend.

A student at Bomet University is in police custody after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the chest.

Bomet Central subcounty deputy police commandant Bashir Ali told the media that the third-year student got upset after her boyfriend broke up with her.

The boyfriend is a 25-year-old third-year student at the same college.

The 21-year-old had visited the boyfriend at Sewage residential area on the outskirts of Bomet town with a female friend when he broke the news to her.

Agitated by the news, the girl removed a kitchen knife she was hiding in her undergarments and stabbed the boyfriend.

Her friend restrained her before she could inflict more injuries to the victim and called for help from the estate's residents.

The boyfriend, who collapsed after the attack, was rushed unconscious to Tenwek hospital.

The girl was arrested by school security officers and handed over to Bomet central police station for interrogation.
