President William Ruto was Friday forced to halt his speech during the Launch of Taifa Gass in Mombasa after a man carrying a baby on his back emerged in the crowd of people who attended the function.

The launch of Taifa gas happened at Dongo Kundu special economic zone.

Ruto was addressing the crowd when he posed to ask his security detail to leave the man, hinting that he was walking toward where he was addressing from.

The man, ostensibly, wanted to present a case to the president.

"Wewe wacha huyo jamaa aketi chini, wewe keti chini hapo ngojea aketi chini, eeh aketi chini hapo amebeba mtoto kwa mgongo aketi. Utaniona baadae wewe," Ruto said.

This loosely translates to :

(Let the man sit down, sit down there. Wait for him to sit down. Yes, let him sit down there, he is carrying a child on his back. You will see me later).

Ruto's sentiments sent the crowd bursting out with laughter.

He went ahead to explain that it is not a normal sight for a man to carry a child on his back in public.

"Ukiona mwanaume amebebeshawa mtoto mgongoni, ako na shida kweli so angoje," he said.

Loosely translates to:

"When you see a man carrying a baby on his back, know that that he has a problem, so he should wait".

After that interruption, Ruto continued with his speech
