A family in Bondeni, Nakuru County dumped the coffin containing the body of their loved one at the home of a man who they said owed thousands of money to the deceased.

A man who identified himself as the deceased's brother told reporters in Kambi Somali, Nakuru East that the owner of the house owed his brother Sh250,000.

"There is an old man here who owed Sh400,000. He gave him a motorcycle worth around Sh150,000 as part of the payment, the old man has been coming here demanding the balance but he has been escaping until his death," he said.

He said the deceased, 60, died two weeks ago. The man, who spoke on behalf of the family of the deceased, asked the owner of the house to come forward for a respectful agreement on how he will pay the money owed by their relatives.

"Whoever sees him should tell him to surrender himself here so that we can talk. Even the Bible says come and discuss," he said.

A police officer, however, said that they would remove the body and return it to the mortuary if the family refused to move it.

"We have advised them to take the body and bury it and follow up on the case later or return the body to the morgue, if they fail we will send it back to the morgue," he said.
