The families of a Juja billionaire have now agreed that he will be buried in his first wife's compound and not at their boundaries as earlier directed.
Christopher Mbote's grave site will, however, face the entrance of the second wife's home.
"I'm happy that my husband will be buried here, in a property that he bought when he was young. That is what I wanted," the first wife Margaret Waithera told the media.
Although they share a compound, the widows' homes have different entrances.
The compounds were previously separated by a wooden fence which has since been taken down to clear for a grave site, on Waithera's side.
A judgment by a Thika court ordered that Mbote be buried astride the boundaries of his widows' properties.
“Surveyors from both families have agreed that the place where the grave will be dug is not central but has been agreed upon by all parties. We will be notifying the court on the same when the matter comes up for mention,” Waithera’s lawyer Githinji Mwangi said.
This was after the second wife, Anne Njeri, contested the burial site, which was at the first wife's Margret Waithera.
Some of Mbote's children who spoke to the press including Kefa Gitau Mbote (Njeri’s son) and Mercy Mbote (Waithera’s daughter) confirmed that they are all in agreement on the location of their father’s grave site.
"We have agreed to give our dad a befitting sendoff and we are in agreement on his final resting place which can be accessed by all members of the family," Gitau said.
Mbote, who is survived by 13 children, seven of them by Waithera and six begotten with Njeri, will be buried on February 3.
