Twenty-seven people have been hospitalised after they allegedly consumed contaminated sour milk in Tepukwet Village, Kericho county.
The twenty-seven, who include three men, ten children and eight women were all rushed to Tepkwet hospital, while the other six are recuperating at the AIC Litein Hospital.
They have been admitted to various hospitals in the county.
The victims claimed they consumed the milk on Sunday and later woke up with stomach ache complications.
The vendor is also hospitalised.
Cheptoo Tonui and her family of 14 people consumed the milk leading to their admission to the hospital.
"Sisi tulikunywa maziwa mala, na tukaanza kugonjeka usiku, hatukulala, na sahi tunaskia mwili iko mbaya, hata watoto wanagonjeka," Cheptoo said.
This is loosely translated to: We took the sour milk and at night we started feeling unwell. We did not sleep and our bodies are not well, even the children are sick.
When a relative confronted the vendor, he told them that the milk turned sour while it was boiling.
"Tuliuliza muuzaji mwenyewe akasema alijaribu kuchemsha maziwa, lakini maziwa ikageuka mala kwa moto," he said -- When we asked the vendor about the milk, she said it turned sour when she was boiling it.
