Two suspect robbers were yesterday apprehended in  Embakasi East constituency in Nairobi after being caught with over 50 mobile phones.

They are being held in custody as they wait to face the court.

It was reported that the two suspects identified as Michael Otieno,28 and Festus Owiti, 30 were nabbed by sleuths based at DCI Kayole.

In a statement from DCI( Directorate of Criminal Investigation) on Friday stated that the two were busted after an incident emerged where a woman robbed was reported. 

It is said that the woman lost her mobile phone and other worthy valuables.

Immediately after the report, the lockdown operation started by the detectives and by good chance or in that act 50 phones got recovered.

It was claimed that the phones were hidden in Obama Estate.

DCI has since established that one of the suspects operates a mobile repair shop in the Estate which is within Kayole.

Late last month, a man identified as Anthony Olando alias Bobi  was arrested in possession of over 200 phones in Kasarani .

The detectives ambushed him when he was heading home .

It was stated that she used to hide the stolen phones in there.

The phones he had were worth KSH 10 Million.

According to Kasarani Deputy Police Commander Antony Mbogo, said the police have so far arrested 12 suspected gang members and had them arraigned in court.

"This one is the mastermind, because he is the one who receives all those stolen phones," he added.

Mbogo said the suspects have a ready for sale, free market.

Kasarani residents were later directed to go for their phones at the Kasarani police station.

Netizens flooded the station but most of them complained claiming that they couldn't track their phones.
