A boy aged three fell and drowned in a basin full of water while playing in their house in Ruai, Nairobi.

This is the second such incident in two days in Nairobi.

Police said the parents of master Kennedy Nganga reported they had left him to play in the house on Thursday, December 1, afternoon when they later realized he was unresponsive.

They found him drowned in a basin that had water in the house.

The mother of the child said she had stepped out of the house to attend to chores when the incident happened.

They rushed him to Ruai Family Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police later visited the scene and documented it before the body was moved to the mortuary.

On Wednesday, a two-year-old baby girl drowned in basin water outside their house in Dandora, Nairobi.

The mother of the child Tabitha Njeri told police she went to take a shower in her bathroom and left water in a basin outside her house.

Her daughter Margaret Muthoni was playing outside the house at that time.

The minor reportedly slid and fell into the basin with water before drowning.

Njeri told police she walked out of the bathroom and later dressed up before she started to call her daughter, oblivious of what had happened.

She says it was after she walked out of the house that she realized the daughter was unresponsive in the basin full of water.

She rushed there in a bid to rescue her but it was too late, police said.

Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are investigating both incidents.
