Winnie Odinga has made an admission about herself that is quite noteworthy. The tall lady has confessed that her surname has oftentimes gotten her into trouble.

In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, the scion said even though she has a lot to be proud of about her surname, she has equally suffered because of it.

She added that being Raila's daughter has been both a blessing and challenging.

Winnie said it is a disadvantage as certain people do not want her to see her for who she is and what she is capable of.

"The name Odinga has gotten me very many things. It has gotten me into trouble, it's gotten me abused, blamed for many things and persecuted," she said.

The EALA nominee brought up the issue of being referred to, only as Raila Odinga's daughter stating that she should be perceived beyond the Odinga name.

Despite the challenges that come with being a member of the Odinga family, Winnie says she remains proud to be associated with her surname and will always defend it.

"However, being Raila's daughter has enabled me to travel the world. To go to different places. I've been to every country in the East African Community except for Burundi," she said.

Winnie described herself as a student, doctor, aunty, communicator and African.

She has over the years worked on five presidential campaigns in Tanzania, Zimbabwe, DRC and Kenya, twice.

She said it has become a passion for her.
