Nairobi CBD has been facing a lot of insecurity cases, threatening the lives of Nairobi residents.
In a meeting chaired by President William Ruto, the cabinet approved the deployment of the General Service Unit (GSU) and Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) officers in the CBD to curb increasing insecurity cases.
The deployment will be as a reinforcement to the security agents already patrolling the city.
“In response to the security concern, Cabinet sanctioned upscaling of security surveillance to deter crime and sanctioned swift and decisive action to deal with all those perpetrating crimes,”
"Following the reorganization of Nairobi County Security command, there are the deployment of additional specialized police units drawn from the General Service Unit and the Rapid Deployment Unit," a statement from the Office of the President reads.
The National Police Service early this week released a list of crime hotspots in Nairobi, warning the public to avoid them.
