Inspector General of Police nominee Eng. Japhet Koome has told MPs that his net worth is Sh89.9 million.
Koome attributes his net worth to his two plots in Kitengela and 37 hectares in his rural home.
He also mentioned savings in Sacco, motor vehicles and two tractors.
"In liability, I also have a loan of Sh1.1 million," Koome said.
He spoke on Tuesday when he appeared before the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Affairs and the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defense, and Foreign Affairs at Parliament Buildings.
The National Assembly Internal Affairs committee is chaired by Narok West MP Gabriel Togoyo while Baringo Senator William Cheptumo chairs the Senate Security committee.
The Inspector General of Police nominee described his nomination as a morale booster to fellow officers joining the service at the lowest ranks.
The former Commandant at Police Training School, Kiganjo, said his nomination gives hope to junior officers of scaling the ranks to head the service.
“Fellow officers are excited about this nomination because one of their own who joined as a constable is now being vetted as Inspector General.
A constable in Marsabit is hopeful of becoming an Inspector General.” Koome said.
