Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) have issued a statement after a major blackout was reported in Nairobi, the Coast region, and Mt. Kenya.

The statement details that the blackout has been caused by a system disturbance. 

"We lost power supply due to system disturbance, affecting parts of Nairobi, coast, and Mt Kenya regions. 

We are working in collaboration with other sector players to restore the power as soon as possible. We apologies to our customers for the inconvenience caused," the statement read.

 Following the blackout a section of Kenyans took to Twitter to air out their frustrations.
